When and HOW our SUN will die!!!

DESCRIPTION OF SUN

The sun is a star. But for us it is a glowing fireball at the heart of our solar system. It is made of gases which are about 27.5% of Helium and 70.5% of Hydrogen and the rest are other elements like carbon, neon, oxygen and iron. It has a strong gravitational power which is beyond the orbit of Pluto and because of this gravitational power the planets orbit the sun from a particular distance and can't splash from the Solar system. The Sun is about 4600 billion years old and it has a temperature of 5778 K. The radius of the Sun is 696340km(432450 miles) and the average diameter of the Sun is 1.4 million km(864938 miles). The mass of the sun is 1.989×10^30 kg which is 99.8% of our total solar system. The sun's diameter is so long that you could line up 109 earths.

The Sun has been burning for more than four billion years because of the nuclear fusion reaction at its core and the core of the sun, the hottest area in the Solar system which is almost 28080000°F. The Sun provides energy and light to the planets but life only exists on earth where we live. Because Earth comes under the sun's habitable zone where Sun's light helps to grow life. Earth's atmosphere also plays a vital role where it seals the earth from the UV rays which is dangerous for earth's living creatures.

HOW THE SUN WILL DIE?

In this universe nothing can stay forever. Our Sun is a giant ball of gases.

When the sun runs out of the gases which help in nuclear reactions, the sun will die. When a star explodes, astronomers say it supernova. Some think our Sun can accidentally explode. But It can only happen for the bigger stars, almost 10 times bigger than our Sun. Our universe is so big, still we don't know how big our universe is and how many big stars are still hidden in this universe. Our Sun is nothing compared to the other bigger stars in the universe. Due to the small size it is safe from sudden explosions. Our Sun will end its life when it will run out of its fuel.

Hydrogen and Helium are two important gases which help in nuclear reactions and burning. In about 5.5 billion years the Sun will run out of hydrogen and the burning of Helium expands the sun's volume and it will become a red giant from being a yellow giant. It is not so clear how much it can expand, some think it can go beyond planet mars and can vaporize earth and some says it will come near to Earth but don't consume it. It will take nearly 130 days to come to earth after the expansion but the radiation will come in eight minutes and can kill all lifeforms on earth. After becoming a red giant it will explode and

create nebulae and the rest heavier elements will fuse together and it will shrink to a white dwarf star and its size will be about the size of our earth.

WHY OUR SUN WOULD NOT CREATE A BLACK HOLE AT THE END OF ITS LIFE?

Again our Sun is not so big to create a black hole after a supernova. It would need to be about 20 times more massive to end its life as a black hole. To create a Black hole the star must have objects with such strong gravitational pull that nothing can escape from it, not even light.

Stars with a size of 20 times or more bigger than our Sun can explode into a supernova at the end of their lifetimes and can collapse back into a black hole. Some smaller stars are big enough to go supernova, but cannot create a black holes but they'll collapse into super-dense structures called neutron stars after exploding as a supernova. But the Sun's not big enough either. It has only about one-tenth of the mass needed to become a neutron star. At the end of its life our Sun will become a 'white dwarf' star.

WILL LIFE SURVIVE AFTER SUPERNOVA?

As we still don't know how far the sun will expand at the end. If it covers our earth, it will destroy every single atom and if not then also the supernova radiation will destroy the atmosphere and lifes too. A billion years before the Sun explodes, when the Milky Way galaxy and Andromeda galaxy will collide then our solar system could get affected and life can be destroyed.

And even before our Sun dies, human life would not survive on earth. At that time due to heavy pollution Earth will no longer be suitable for humans.

But you don't worry before all these happen you and I both would not be alive. So relax and enjoy the god gifted life and respect Nature and protect it.
