The war of words between Ramdev and the Indian Medical Association (IMA) escalated on Wednesday after Yoga Guru was hit with a Rs 1000 crore defamation notice over his recent views on allopathy medicine.
The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding that yoga guru Ramdev be booked immediately under sedition charges for alleged misinformation campaign on vaccination.
According to the news, the Yoga Guru said in Hindi, “Khair, arrest to unka baap bhi nahi kar sakta Ramdev ko (Anyway, even their father can't arrest Swami Ramdev).”
On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was requested to take appropriate action under sedition and other different charges against Baba Ramdev for consciously "spearheading a misinformation campaign on COVID-19 vaccination".
The IMA said that Ramdev falsely claimed by taking two doses of vaccination 10,000 doctors died.
Ramdev does not have sound knowledge and is engaging in rhetorics, said IMA Uttarakhand unit President Dr Ajay Khanna.
Ramdev needed to pull out his assertions on allopathic medication after getting a solid phrased letter from Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan who named his comments "inappropriate".
But The Yoga Guru said he doesn't go against current clinical science and allopathy. "We accept that allopathy has shown tremendous advancement in medical procedure and the lifesaving framework and served mankind. My statement has been quoted as part of a WhatsApp message that I was reading during a meeting of volunteers. I am sorry if it has hurt anyone's sentiment,"Ramdev said.
